Hi! I’m Evan Watson, a yogi who is out to live life as full as possible and guide others to do the same – starting on the yoga mat! I was raised traveling to remote locations, taught to appreciate the personal growth that comes with stepping outside of my comfort zone. Exploring the wonders of this planet and connecting to people from a soul level are at the core of who I am. From connecting deeply with sea life through scuba diving at age 11, living with locals in a remote Philippine village just out of college and starting a yoga wellness business at the start of the pandemic, my spirit has always carried me along the way.
At age 15, I took my first step into a sunrise yoga class with my dad. I went in thinking that I was supporting him and left knowing that I had found my “thing”, recognizing a calm, collected, and focused self that was not my norm.
Fast forward, while studying Cultural Anthropology at Sewanee: The University of the South, I developed a life mission to connect with people through similarities and learn through the differences. Being an island girl, this is also when I grew a fascination for mountain life, hiking and biking through the breathtaking Cumberland Plateau. The practice of yoga was slowly becoming more a part of me - I was beginning to see myself the way God had intended. This was liberating and I wanted more of it, so I went off to the Philippines for Peace Corps service to learn what connection was really about.
I had a lot of work to do readjusting back to U.S. culture, after 2.5 years abroad, so chose a deep dive into yoga as my support system, beginning a 200-hour YTT in my hometown of St. Simons Island, GA. Upon completion, I moved to Asheville, NC to obtain a Master of Science in Sustainability Studies at Lenoir-Rhyne University. Teaching yoga around the city was my financial support during this time and I was mentored by some of the best yoga teachers in the country!
The coastline and my family were pulling me deeper south, so I moved to Charleston, SC, where I began working for my family business in Veterinary Brokerage alongside growing this yoga business, Flow Into Yoga (FIY).
As you can see, I’ve studied and worked in a lot of fields over my short lifetime, and yet, it all comes back to yoga. Just as breath moves our bodies on the mat, prana (or life force energy) moves us through life – the key is staying present enough to listen and courageous enough to then follow. FIY is guided by the qualities I’ve learned along the way to provide for an abundant life – connection, freedom, sustainability, presence and wellness. Along with leading retreats around the world, I also teach privates and groups of all ages and practice levels in the Charleston area. I love making new connections, so if you can’t join this retreat at Finca Luna Nueva, reach out via email and we’ll see if we can get something aligned some day!
Warmly,
Evan Watson

Your inner and outer journey in the natural world begins when you land in San José, Costa Rica. Here, a group transfer will be waiting to whisk you away to your jungle respite in La Fortuna. Upon arrival, check in and savor some free time to relax, freshen up from your travels, and explore the resort grounds.
In the evening, we’ll come together with the group in the form of a welcome circle incorporating mindful yoga. We will set our intentions for the week ahead and get to know each other. From here, we’ll close out an amazing day with a delicious local meal under the starry sky.
Rise and shine with the glittering sun as it peaks its head over the treetops. We’ll start the day with yoga and meditation, connecting with the lush landscape in the open-air shala, followed by a delicious local breakfast spread. From here, we’re off to tour the property’s organic farm to learn about sustainable practices and farming culture in the country. After the tour, we’ll head back to the lodge and fuel up with a nutritious lunch.
Next up, we’ll partake in an herbal medicine workshop that will connect us with the ancient wisdom of plants. You’ll be introduced to some practical and theoretical secrets of the alchemy of medicinal plants using herbs right from the property’s farm. The best part? This activity will involve hands-on work, and the medicine you make will be yours to take home! After that, the afternoon is yours for the taking, a time to rest in a hammock or relax by the pool. As the sun begins to set, we’ll come together for yin yoga, followed by another delectable meal to close out a killer day here in Costa Rica.
Another gorgeous morning awaits, as we start the day with yoga and meditation in the open-air shala. Here, our inner world connects to the energy of the outer world, which is reinforced with a delicious local breakfast.
After free time and lunch, we are taking a tour of the hanging bridges. Hike a loop that will take you across the famous hanging bridges that provide panoramic views of the area. Then, take a dip in the refreshing hot springs that are truly a sight to behold.
Afterwards, we will return to the resort for a delicious dinner and free time to unwind your way.
Today, you have a free morning to rest and relax or head into the jungle for a zip-lining adventure! The course features 13 cables and 15 platforms that are divided into three sections, found mostly in the trees and designed to provide you greater contact with nature.(See add-ons for pricing and more information.)
After an exhilarating morning, we’ll head back to the lodge for lunch and free time to enjoy the pool and the walking trails. When the sun sets, we’ll come together for yin yoga, followed by a group dinner where we can reflect on another amazing day in paradise.
It’s our final full day here, so we need to make it the best it can be. We have an array of workshops lined up to round out this transformational experience. Begin the day with a peaceful yoga and meditation session, a time and space to drop into yourself, align, and assess. Afterwards, we are heading out on the Cabalonga Trail. This hike will take us through the rainforest on a well-maintained but minimally-disturbed path. Snap pictures and take in this tranquil environment on this 2-hour trek.
After lunch, it’s off to a chocolate workshop! Visit the cacao plantation and see more than 300 cacao trees, most more than 30 years old. After seeing how regenerative practices are used to grow the trees, the next step is to learn how chocolate has been made, both by ancient civilizations and by modern techniques. You’ll be taken on a thousand-year chocolate journey and make both the ancient ‘Drink of the Gods’ and modern chocolate confections. After, you’ll participate in one of the most celebrated uses of cacao – the process of making chocolate. We have professional equipment to make organic chocolates using spices and other ingredients from the farm. Let your imagination run wild!
After an incredible day connecting with nature in all sorts of ways, we’ll wind down and relax with a Yin session followed by a farewell dinner. Use this time to reflect on the last five days and what you’ll take with you as you return home.
It’s been an incredible five days here in paradise, but day six means it’s time to pack up and head back to reality. We’ll start this final day with a closing circle where we can reflect on all that we intended for this trip and start saying our goodbyes. From here, a delightful breakfast helps us gear up for a day of travel before we’re off in our group transfer back to the airport. We hope you had an amazing experience in Costa Rica and will travel with us again soon. Be well!
