Details

Day 1

Welcome to Guatemala – travel to the UNESCO World Heritage city of Antigua and enjoy free time to get settled

We are thrilled to have you here in Antigua, a colonial and cosmopolitan gem, nestled in forested hills and surrounded by volcanoes in southern Guatemala. This much-loved destination is known for its Spanish colonial architecture and well-preserved culture and history. With plenty of ruins and colonial edifices to discover, enjoy an afternoon of exploration and sightseeing after checking into your accommodation. You’ll have the rest of the day to yourself to spend however you please. Meet up with your group, book some optional activities, connect with the local people, absorb the good vibes of the city, and have a wonderful first day discovering Antigua.

Day 2

Travel along the Pacific Coast and visit Biotopo Monterrico-Hawaii and a turtle hatchery

Rise and shine to a beautiful day in Guatemala! After breakfast, the group will leave the history of Antigua and trade it for the shoreline with a trip to Monterrico. This quaint coastal town is known for its volcanic black-sand beaches and annual turtle pilgrimages. We’ll start the journey with a visit to Biotopo Monterrico-Hawaii for a beach trip. This stunning natural reserve contains 20 km of coastline for you to enjoy, along with mangroves and a special area perfect for turtle nests. Here, you can see leatherbacks, olive ridleys, loras, and green sea turtles. After some beach time and lunch, we’ll get up close and personal with said turtles at Tortuguero Monterrico, a turtle hatchery located in the center of the town. This experience will open your heart as you release some baby sea turtles back into the sea at sunset with your group! Eventually, we’ll have to say goodbye to our new turtle friends and check-in at the hotel. From here, you’ll have a free night to enjoy a delicious meal with your group.

Day 3

Enjoy a free day in Monterrico to explore the beaches, nature, the culture, and ourselves

Wake up at your own pace, enjoy breakfast at the hotel, and let the day unfold as it may. Your schedule is free and clear, which means you can choose your own adventures in Monterrico! Relax on the shoreline, go exploring in nature, eat your way around town, and do some light souvenir shopping. This is a great time to reflect on your journey and show gratitude for another day in this gorgeous paradise. No matter how you choose to fill your time, enjoy it to the max!

Day 4

Hike at the Pacaya Volcano, then travel back to Antigua for one last night of fun

Today will be filled with adventures, as we head to the Pacaya Volcano for a hike! This active volcano is known as the torch of the Americas, and you’ll see why as you encounter the majesty of this natural wonder. After breakfast, we’ll pack up and head out to the park with a guide to hike its interpretive trails of massive, rugged dried lava fields, magma stones, and steaming boilers. Marvel at the views of the surrounding sights, including the Agua, Fuego and Acatenango volcanoes. After our soiree in nature, we’ll drive back to Antigua for a delicious farewell dinner, where we can reflect on our time in Guatemala, our healing journeys, and our future dreams.

Day 5

Bid farewell to Guatemala and the new friends you’ve made along the journey

The time has come to pack up and start the journey home. Enjoy one final breakfast with your group, then take your transfer to the airport to catch your flight. We hope you had a stellar trip and will travel with us again soon. Be well!
