No visit to Iceland is complete without a visit to the 3 most iconic and popular attractions, forming the Golden Circle: Gullfoss Waterfall, Geysir Geothermal Area, and Þingvellir (Thingvellir) National Park. The route covers approximately 250 kilometers (155 miles) and loops from the capital city to the center of Iceland and back. You'll want to get your cameras ready for this! (This is a non-private tour)
Good morning! Have breakfast at Kex Hostel and enjoy the morning as you please. This afternoon you'll be going to the stunning Blue Lagoon, where you'll get to indulge and relax in Mother Nature's most epic spa! Named one of the “25 Wonders of the World”, the Icelandic Blue Lagoon features geothermal pools with a strikingly icy blue color that makes photographing a dream. Visitors are recommended to slather the white volcanic mud onto themselves, which have purifying and beautifying effects on the skin (for those battling psoriasis, the silica-rich waters of the lagoon are said to offer a natural form of relief)! There is also a swim-up bar and complimentary drink offered with each soak. Have lunch at the cafe at your leisure when you’re hungry, and the tour officially ends once you’ve showered and changed.
Tonight you'll be whisked away on a Northern Lights chase by local experts who know the best vantage points for this breathtaking phenomenon. If you're lucky enough to go on a clear night with high auroral activity, be prepared to be completely awed by a show of a lifetime - dancing ribbons of lights, ranging from crimsons to violets to (more commonly) bright fluorescent greens. This is going to be a night you'll never forget! (Note this is a non-private tour by coach)
After sleeping off yesterday’s exertions, take breakfast and prepare to spend the day as you please (see list below for optional add-ons). Snorkel in between two tectonic plates, ride Icelandic horses, or visit the Snaefellsness peninsula - the list is endless! A must-see is Reykjavik’s Magic Ice Bar. An art gallery with a difference, every sculpture you see is carved from ice, even the glasses at the bar! Don’t be afraid of the sub-zero temperatures you’ll find inside — all visitors are given a thick winter poncho and gloves on entry, so you can enjoy the experience with a toasty glow.
The cozy and super-cool Kex Hostel was once a biscuit factory — and they’ve respected this tradition by naming themselves after the Icelandic word for biscuit. You’ll find a brand-new pop-up bar and restaurant, with a scrumptious pizza menu and superb selection of beers. In the basement, they even have an onsite barber, so if you’re feeling a little hirsute, you can get a hair or beard trim without even leaving the building. Book lovers will enjoy the bar’s library, containing everything from biographies to poetry, Icelandic sagas and guidebooks. If you need further inspiration, you’ll find tour experts at the hostel to help you plan your adventures. The hostel provides secure luggage storage, 24-hour access, in-room lockers and free WiFi throughout. Room type: Multiple occupancy.
