Hello Friends! I'm Grace Millsap (she/her), and I'm currently located in Charlotte, NC (Catawba and Sugaree land). My passions are rooted in science and equality, which inform my teaching of Yoga, and how I show up in the world. I spent 5 years in the fast-paced, and high-pressure, scientist world where I conducted research for UNC-Chapel Hill in the intersecting fields of nutrition, genetics, and neuroscience.
I study, and teach, from a long lineage that believes that life is inherently beautiful, and that the path of Yoga is a tool set to better navigate the many twists and turns. Specifically, from the Tantra and Himalayan Traditions of Sri Vidya. A Yoga practice is 100% steeped in Social Justice, and I am grateful for every teacher I've encountered.

There is an undeniable mystic energy that surrounds Bali. Lush landscapes seem to hint at nature's hidden secrets, with an ancient aura emanating from the hills. This makes Bali the perfect spot for our 10-day yoga retreat centered around magic, love, and personal progress. After landing at the airport, we'll transfer to our accommodation in verdant Tegalalang and get to know each other via an open circle and a welcome dinner. The activities begin in earnest tomorrow; for now, just relax a bit and enjoy the tranquil vibes.
Ready for an adventure? After feeling a sense of harmony during morning yoga, we'll embark on a day trip to see some of the nearby wonders of Bali. First up is Gitgit Waterfall, a powerful waterfall that is surrounded by calm pools of placid water. It's an excellent introduction to the untamed wilderness of Bali, and it's the perfect spot to enjoy a meditative moment in nature. From here, we'll move onwards to Ulun Danu Temple. Situated on the picturesque shores of glassy Lake Bratan, Ulun Danu is a majestic Hindu water temple known for its ethereal beauty. With its stunning multi-tiered shrines and tranquil surroundings, you'll connect with the spiritual essence of Bali. After lunch, it's back to the retreat for the rest of the evening.
Beyond simply deepening your understanding of your yoga practice, this trip is about healing. With that in mind, there's no better way for us to achieve healing throughout our entire system than with a melukat ceremony.Deeply rooted in Balinese Hinduism, melukat is a traditional purification ritual performed to cleanse the body and soul from negative energies and impurities. After our morning routine, you will immerse yourself in sacred waters. As you connect with the divine, you'll experience a spiritual rejuvenation that will have lasting effects. We'll complete the day with a relaxing evening yoga session.
It's our last full day in Tegalalang. Tomorrow, we set off for new horizons! To make the most of our time, we'll awaken early and greet the day with a yoga session where you'll feel gratitude for the memories you've already made. Then, after lunch, we'll attend a Balinese dance performance as a way of connecting deeply with the culture of the island. Blending intricate hand gestures, expressive facial expressions, and colorful costumes to tell ancient stories. You'll gain an understanding of Bali's cultural heritage before we break for one more yoga session and dinner.
Goodbye Tegalalang! We're saying goodbye to our home-away-from-home so that we can make our way to the coast. Here, the lush jungle of Bali melds with the picturesque shoreline, creating a scene of natural beauty that is unparalleled. After checking in at our new accommodation, a comfortable retreat near the beach. You'll have plenty of free time to unpack and explore your surroundings before an evening yoga session that will allow our minds to get into the slow, steady rhythm of West Bali's coast.
Today holds a truly special adventure for us. After morning yoga, we're headed to Nusa Penida! A quick boat ride will bring us to the island where we will discover pristine beaches, dramatic landscapes featuring unique geologic formations, and vibrant marine life. We'll spend the day exploring and sailing through Nusa Penida's turquoise waters, allowing the magic of Indonesia to wrap around us and hold us close. As the sun begins to set, we'll embark on a scenic ride back to our accommodation where we'll end the day.
Can you believe it's already the last full day of the trip? We head home tomorrow morning! The day begins as always with the wonderful vistas of West Bali serving as a backdrop for empowering movement and powerful introspection. After our afternoon of free time, we'll have a sound healing session that will help us release tension and negativity before a closing circle. Here, we'll speak our gratitudes, reflect on the experience, and make a plan for continued progress once we're home.
Our retreat reaches its conclusion this morning. You'll have time for one final yoga session before you need to say your goodbyes to the people and places that have made this journey so special and impactful. It's then off to the airport so that you can catch your flight home. It's been a joy having you here!
