In addition to being a writer, Nina is an Applied Social Scientist and works a day job as a User Experience research leader at a multinational machine learning and artificial intelligence company. She holds advanced degrees in both Psychology and Writing, and her work has been nominated for several awards, including an NAACP Image Award, A Doctorow Award for Innovative Fiction, and several African American Literary Awards.
Nina is the founder of The Writing Sisters Summit™, a writing and wellness retreat for Women of Color, and Unapologetic: The Retreat, a mini-coaching getaway for women who want to figure things out–about themselves. In addition, she is a 500hr- RYT.
Originally from Jamaica, New York, Nina now splits time between Seattle and Playa Del Carmen, Mx.
Sadeqa Johnson is the New York Times best-selling author of five novels including The Reese's Book club pick, The House of Eve. Her accolades include the NAACP Image award nominee, 2022 Hurston/Wright Foundation Legacy finalist, a BCALA Literary Honoree, the Library of Virginia’s Literary People’s Choice Award and the Phillis Wheatley Book Award. Originally from Philadelphia, she currently lives near Richmond, Virginia, with her husband and three teens.

Cancellation policy
TourHero, the retreat host, and the tour operator reserve the right to cancel or reschedule this trip up until July 10, 2025. If the departure is canceled out of your control, you will be alerted by this date and will receive a full refund.
In this case, TourHero is not responsible for your preparation expenses, such as airline tickets, extra accommodations, loss of work, or any other cost associated with preparing for your trip. Day 1 · September 23, 2025
Write, stretch, learn, and explore
-Each day at the Writing Sisters Summit™ begins with a meditation and yoga session. Culturally sensitive and designed to help you find stillness so that you can easily access your creativity, this is the perfect way to start the day.
-After breakfast, we attend the day's workshop. These sessions cover everything from the business of writing to the actual craft itself. A wide variety of subjects are covered, with topics specifically selected based on the needs and interests of the retreat-goers. These topics will be announced a month before the retreat begins.
-The rest of the day will then be dedicated to writing or exploring. We may have an outing planned, or we may remain at the retreat to put pen to paper. This is also a great time to chat with fellow writers.
-After dinner we complete the day with a Sister Circle, where we share work and complete exercises targeting to self-exploration and deep understanding of self.

Puri Bagus Lovina is an accommodation that truly exemplifies the relaxing properties of Bali. Located on the northern coast, it offers access to the beach in addition to a spa with numerous treatments, a gorgeous pool, and luxurious rooms with plenty of light pouring in from the surroundings. Walk through the hotel gardens, enjoy incredible Balinese cuisine at the on-site restaurant, sip on a drink as you look out over the sea; it's hard not to feel like you're in paradise while you're staying here. What happens if I need to cancel my trip?

Will TourHero or the operator take care of my visa (if applicable)?
Travelers are responsible for researching visa requirements and obtaining a visa if needed. This includes necessary transit visas, permits, and vaccinations required prior to travel and any required reciprocity fees for the destination. TourHero will provide a booking confirmation document after purchase, which may be needed to obtain a visa.
If your visa is denied for any reason, TourHero will issue a refund based on the cancellation policy. However, we are unable to provide a refund after the cancellation due date has passed.

A full and valid passport is required for all persons traveling to any destination outside of one’s home country. Most international tours require a passport that's valid for at least six (6) months beyond the scheduled end of your itinerary.
