Day 1

Welcome to Jordan – the gateway to a week of culture, history, and unforgettable experiences

We’re so glad you’re here with us in Jordan, a country that's home to ancient history and some of the most iconic ruins in the world. Your trip will start when you arrive in Amman, the capital city of Jordan, home to historic citadels and temples dating back to the second century. Upon arrival, you’ll be greeted at the airport and taken to your first hotel in the heart of Amman. You’ll have the rest of the day to get settled and enjoy the energy of the city. Grab food with your group and toast to a stellar trip ahead!

Day 2

Discover Amman on a guided city tour

Good morning, travelers! We hope you had a great first night in Jordan. After breakfast at the hotel, we’ll embark on a guided city tour of the Old City of Amman. Our tour will begin around 8:00 am and will start with a tour of the Citadel and the Roman Theater, two of the most popular archaeological sites in the city. Next, we’ll make our way to the Jordan Folklore Museum for another look at the past. We’ll finish up the tour with a visit to one of Amman’s oldest neighborhoods, Jabal al-Weibdeh. We’ll pass by several art galleries, like Darat Al Funun and Dar Al-Anda, museums, and local antiquities and handcraft shops along the way. Grab some souvenirs and soak up the history and culture in this ancient land.

Visit Iraq Al Amir and enjoy lunch and handicrafts at the Women’s Cooperative Association

After an exciting morning exploring the streets of the Old City, we’ll head to Iraq Al Amir Women’s Association, a cooperative where you can learn the art of olive oil soap making and various other traditional handicrafts, such as paper and pottery making. The Iraq Al Amir Women’s Cooperative Association was founded by the Noor Al-Hussein Foundation over two decades ago. It aimed to make the women financially independent and to raise their standard of living by increasing their income and preserving local heritage. Here, we’ll also enjoy a delicious traditional lunch before heading back to the hotel.

Day 3

Explore the Jerash ruins, one of the most well-preserved Roman sites outside of Italy

Rise and shine for another day of adventure! After breakfast at the hotel, we’ll jump in our 8:00 am transfer and head to Jerash, a Greco-Roman city with colonnaded streets, mosaics, baths, theaters, temples, and a hippodrome. It’s known as the “Pompeii of the Middle East,” as it’s one of the best preserved sites outside of Italy. We’ll stop here and take a guided tour of the area, learning all about its history and significance. Make sure your cameras/phones are charged and ready to go! You’ll also have some time to stop at the souks (markets) for souvenirs.

Visit the Ajloun Castle before an olive grove tour and lunch with a local family

Our next historical stop is in the city of Ajloun where we’ll visit the castle, dominating the Ajloun skyline. It was built to ward off the Crusader armies at the key trade and pilgrimage intersection between Jerusalem, Cairo, Damascus, and Mecca. After time for pictures and self-exploration, we’ll travel to our final stop of the day in the village of Orjan to experience traditional life. We’ll meet our local host at the olive groves to see the trees that have provided olives for hundreds of years. From here, we’ll take a short walk to our host's family home where you’ll be introduced to the culture and daily life of the host community. Enjoy a delicious feast of traditional food cooked by his family with a great opportunity to ask questions about life in rural Jordan.

Day 4

Journey to Madaba for a guided tour then explore Mount Nebo

Another day of exploration awaits! After breakfast, it’s time to say goodbye to Amman for a few days, pack up, and head to Petra. Along the way, we’ll stop at a few important sites, starting at Madaba. This town contains amazing Byzantine mosaics, including the oldest preserved mosaic map of the Holy Lands. From here, we’ll drive to Mount Nebo and marvel at the view where Moses looked across to the Promised Land and later died and was buried.

Drive the King Way to visit the crusader castle at Karak before heading to Petra

Next, we’ll drive on the King Way to visit the ancient crusader castle in Karak, exploring the maze of stone-vaulted halls and passageways. Karak was the capital of Moab, and the castle dominates the skyline. This fortress provides an impressive insight into the architectural and military skills of the Crusaders. This long, yet fulfilling day will end in Petra at the hotel, where we can enjoy dinner and a great night’s rest.

Day 5

Explore the ancient structures of Petra on a half-day tour

Today is a big day, as we make our way to the iconic ruins of Petra. Here, we'll take a guided tour through the city that was carved into the red rocks of the desert cliffs thousands of years ago by the ancient Nabatean people. The Nabateans were Arabian nomads from the Negev Desert who became wealthy on the incense trade routes. Petra was their kingdom’s capital city. The city was hidden under the sand for centuries before recently becoming accessible again. We’ll enter the city through a 1-kilometer-long narrow gorge which is flanked on either side by 80-meter high cliffs! We’ll walk through the treasury, amphitheater, royal tombs, and monastery, learning about the architecture and its history. From here, we’ll enjoy lunch in town then make our way to camp for the night.

Enjoy a sunset 4x4 tour of Wadi Rum then stay overnight at a Bedouin camp in the desert

Our next adventure takes us to Wadi Rum, a protected area of desert wilderness, where we’ll enjoy a two-hour 4x4 ride through the landscape. We’ll even follow in the footsteps of Lawrence of Arabia, climbing sand dunes and rock bridges to watch the sunset over the desert. After the tour, we’ll drive to the Rainbow Camp where we’ll stay for the night under the care of the legendary hospitality of the Bedouins. The Bedouins are nomadic inhabitants of the desert who are known for keeping camels, their agricultural ways, and their history within the desert trade routes. Immerse yourself in Bedouin culture, enjoying food, stories, and music together under the stars.

Day 6

Travel to Aqaba and enjoy a free day to spend relaxing on the beach

After a night under the stars in the desert, it’s time to head back to the modern world, as we travel to Jordan’s window to the Red Sea in Aqaba. Aqaba is a port city, which has been inhabited since 4,000 BC. This beautiful area is known for its beach resorts, world-renowned multi-colored coral reefs, and water sports. You’ll have the entire day to yourself to enjoy the sun, the sand, the souks, and everything else in this resort town. After checking into our hotel, you’ll gain access to the Berenice Beach Club where you can enjoy lunch and the club’s amenities for a relaxing day on the water.

Day 7

Float in the salty waters of the Dead Sea

This morning, we’ll enjoy breakfast at the hotel before heading to one of the most iconic locations in the world – the Dead Sea! You’ll have the entire day to swim and float in the mineral-rich waters, which happens to be the lowest point on Earth! Soak up the sun and the salt in one of the most beautiful places on the planet, and enjoy the resort amenities in this little slice of heaven.

Day 8

Explore the city of As-Salt before heading back to Amman

It’ll be hard to leave the beautiful backdrop of the Dead Sea, but it’s time to make our way back to Amman on the final stretch of this incredible journey. Your transfer will arrive at 8:00 am to whisk you away to the city of As-Salt. The center of town lies in the middle of a deep valley, and the town spreads up the surrounding hills. We’ll walk the trail that focuses on the religious harmony in As-Salt with our guide. We’ll visit mosques, churches, and heritage buildings before heading back to Amman. This is your last full day in Jordan. Live it up!

Day 9

Bid farewell to Jordan and a stellar trip

Who can believe eight days have already come and gone? We’ve seen all the iconic sites and even got to swim in the Dead Sea. Start posting those social media pictures and get your friends back home jealous! After one last meal at the hotel, pack your things, and take your private transfer to the airport to catch your flight home. We hope you had a great time and will travel with us again soon. Be well!
