John is the owner and founder of E8 Yoga. He started early exploring the inner boundaries of his being. He has always been curious about practical applications to meditation and creative self-exploration. He studied and practiced full contact martial arts and zen meditation. Tai Chi, Chi Gong and Taoist energy activation. He has been spending long periods of time in the wild on land and in the water. He has been practicing Yoga in different traditions. Meeting and learning from other gurus, teachers, healers, mentors, peers, but mostly from his own mistakes. Often more humbled than elevated.
He slowly found his way to a deeply rooted daily yoga practice: Power Vinyasa Flow, Iyengar, Ashtanga Vinyasa, Restorative, Nidra and Tantra. Diversity and Adaptability in his learning approach helped him find a synergy, a universality in all inner practices. Profoundly influenced by Ramana Maharshi, he sees that there is a direct path and a progressive path. When we are identified through the mind we practice with direction and progression. When we are abiding as the self, the idea of a goal falls away and we use our cultivated strength to remain effortlessly as we are. He teaches from his own unique view with the intention to meet the student where they are.
His other passion is Tai Chi. He loves to deconstruct belief systems and body mind systems to find the deepest connection within them. He uses Dreamwork and Yoga Nidra as a tool to mine the Psyche for hidden beliefs, emotions, convictions and unconscious parts of the personality. He sees the Yoga practice as a way to unfold into a more complete human being and when we bring what makes us human to our inner work we can transform through acceptance and surrender. He is constantly exploring the core of movement and stillness. He sees Tai Chi as a system that moves the body prior to being identified with it. He is grateful to share and work with others. Although he prefers to be a student he feels a calling to teach. And as he teaches he looks for opportunities to learn. You can connect with John either on the E8 Yoga website or the E8 Yoga Youtube channel.

As soon as your plane lands in Mexico, you'll feel an unnameable weight roll off of your shoulders. For the next six days, you'll have a change to give yourself the rest and care that you need as you progress on your wellness journey. With nothing to stress about and space to develop yourself mentally and physically, you'll find that this retreat allows you to transform how you interact with the universe that surrounds you. A quick transfer will bring us from the airport to our lodge by the sea where we will drop off our bags and trade introductions with other retreat-goers. A yoga nidra session will give us time to stretch out our bodies and set our intentions, a powerful first step towards manifestation. The day will end with dinner and meditation as the sun paints the ocean in an array of vibrant colors. We'll see you tomorrow!
It's your first morning in Mexico, so take a moment to be present as you rise, listening to the sounds of the ocean and savoring the sights that can be seen from our lodge. The day officially begins with a session of meditation and yoga, giving us energy and clarity as we move forward. Then, after breakfast, we will gather in a group circle to discuss the foundations of inner work and how you can holistically develop your own understanding of the Self. Some journaling will allow you to document your state of mind and shed any thoughts that may be holding you back before we engage in some transformative breath-work.
As morning morphs into afternoon, we'll head to the beach for some time with the ocean. Swim, play, and relax as nature holds you. Later in the afternoon, a yin yoga session will create a chance for you to strengthen your practice before dinner and a final workshop centered around yoga nidra and meditation.
Rise and shine! Our day once again begins with meditation, yoga, and breakfast to give us energy as we approach a day of intense personal progress. During our morning circle, we'll discuss the foundations of dreamwork before making another journal and doing some more breath-work. Then, serene hours enjoying the ocean will allow us to solidify our bonds with nature, expanding our journey beyond ourselves and towards the universal. Refuel with lunch and then head to an afternoon qi gong session, channeling powerful energy through your entire system. As the day winds down, yoga nidra and meditation will once again help us calm down our minds and release tension from our bodies so that we can get the rest we need.
Today brings us an exciting opportunity for intensely spiritual purification! After our typical schedule of meditation, yoga, ocean time, and hearty meals, we'll head to the on-site sweat lodge for a ceremony that will remove any negative energy that might be residing within us. A late dinner and some yoga nidra and meditation will round out the day.
Our retreat has nearly come to a close. We have one more full day to dedicate our time towards personal progress. Meditation and breath-work will kick things off before a final spot of ocean time. The afternoon brings more time for movement and then, in the evening, we'll have a meditation session that will afford us an opportunity for reflection and introspection. We may be heading home tomorrow, but the journey is far from over, so make mental notes about the changes you've seen within yourself and the intentions you still hope to achieve after arriving back home.
After meditation, yoga, and a closing circle that will tie up the lessons we've learned on the retreat, we'll be heading to the airport to fly home. It's been a wonderful time on the coast of Baja California, and we're so glad you could join us. Thanks so much, and we'll see you on the next trip!
