Laura Shockley is the founder of Point Lookout Yoga, (PLY), a Yoga studio offering daily yoga classes, workshops, trainings and retreats. Laura also owns Joyful Treasures, an adjoining boutique and spa which expands upon the holistic offerings of PLY, providing curated inspired gifts and a wellness space for sacred healing, organic facials and Ayurvedic and traditional body treatments.
Laura has been practicing and studying Yoga for 30 years. Her passion has evolved into a mission to positively affect change in people’s lives through the practice of Yoga, both on and off the Mat in the beautiful seaside community of Point Lookout, NY.
Welcoming and encouraging students of all levels, Laura teaches intuitively from the heart, providing elements of compassion, spirituality, gratitude and motivation in her classes. Inspired by the ancient teachings of India and Sri Lanka, she focuses her students on the movement of energy through the body and mind as a vehicle for deep self-inquiry into the higher states of consciousness.
Laura's studies have taken her on several pilgrimages to India, Sri Lanka and Malaysia where she deepened both her Yoga practice and her Spiritual devotion. A believer that travel (and removing yourself from everyday life) inspires personal and spiritual transformation, Laura leads students in Self-Inquiry retreats and trainings with the goal of cultivating tools and practices that can then be implemented at home. She has developed a series of Meditation Study Circle courses at PLY, incorporating the ancient spiritual teachings from her travels and brings them to our local waterways with PLY’s signature Meditation Cruises. Laura also leads international retreats each year.
Laura has received specialized training in the areas of Hatha, Vinyasa, Restorative, Yin Yoga, Classical Yoga Nidra and Meditation, as well as instruction in teaching the aging population and students with disabilities, including cancer. Most recently, Laura completed her Ayurvedic Yoga Therapy training with the California College of Ayurveda, (CCA), the oldest State-approved college in the west offering Ayurvedic Medical Training. She has also completed her Ayurvedic Health Counselor Certification at CCA and has received specialized training in Ayurvedic Body Therapies, including, Abhyanga, Shirodhara, Svedana, Marma and Ayurvedic Facial Rejuvenation and offers these sacred healing treatments at Joyful Treasures. Laura is continuing her Ayurvedic education at CCA, where she is pursuing her Ayurvedic Health Counselor Internship. Over the years she has received well over 500 hours of teacher training. Laura is certified 200 E-RYT, RYT 500 and YACEP with Yoga Alliance. She received her 300 hour advanced Yoga Teacher Training with Jason Crandell.
Laura is grateful to bring the Yogic teachings and the healing principles of Ayurveda to her students while she pursues her lifelong journey of living joyfully, loving passionately and inquiring endlessly.

At the Quinta, sustainability and wellness are at the forefront of every detail. Completely off the grid, the farm produces its own organic food and green energy to power and heat the property. This dedication to sustainability creates a sense of peace and connection to the earth, allowing guests to truly unwind and recharge.
On the spiritual path it is important to step outside of daily routine, slow down and embrace stillness in order to rediscover yourself and what lies beneath the surface…to ultimately awaken to your divine wisdom. When you remove yourself from your daily environment you can become more present to see clearly and listen deeply. This May, come home to yourself, your heart and your spirit in a serene oasis located in Portugal along the Mondego river in a stunning and protected nature zone that is completely off the grid.
Over the course of six days in the lush landscape of Tábua, Portugal, you will dive deeply into the eight limb path of Yoga, a step-by-step guide to Self-Realization, as a means of profound personal inquiry and action to explore your relationship with yourself and the world around you. You will also discover how to use the ancient science of Ayurveda as a means to deepen your connection to body, mind, spirit and nature. On our retreat you will begin implementing sacred rituals and self-care practices that will support you long after you return home.
Guided by Yoga & Meditation instructor, Laura Shockley, you will incorporate the ancient spiritual practices of Yoga and Ayurveda to let go of obstacles and ultimately Awaken your Soul and manifest the life you truly desire. Tools, techniques and teachings that have been refined over thousands of years will help you discover your purpose and live a joyous life.

While we believe that it's best to experience a retreat without expectation, here is a brief preview of a typical day:
The day begins silently with a guided outdoor meditation immersed in the sounds of nature and the river. Following our meditation we will unite movement, breath + spirit in a Yoga asana (posture) practice in a lush setting, followed by a delicious traditional breakfast. Guests will be provided with an inquiry for the day and are given time to explore on their own ~ whether that means paddleboarding or kayaking on the river, relaxing alongside the infinity pool, exploring the resort’s 40 acres of forest and wilderness by mountain bike, taking a soak in the jacuzzi, or experiencing a spa treatment ~ the time is meant to be spent doing whatever your heart guides you toward. We will reunite for lunch followed by profound afternoon sessions that blend yoga with meditation, inquiry, and discussion. The days may end with a sunset meditation, calming practice, inquiry or excursion. Guests will enjoy farm to table dinners with our private chef, who is always available to share culinary tips and answer questions about local cuisine.
During our retreat you will:
~ Set an authentic intention, or sankalpa, and begin to define - or refine - your purpose
~ Strengthen your body, mind + spirit through daily Yoga asana and meditation classes
~ Begin implementing Ayurvedic practices that can help you heal body, mind + consciousness
~ Learn a sustainable goal-oriented meditation practice that will change your life
~ Learn how to harness your awareness and work with energy
~ Develop willpower and focus
~ Release fear + begin to reverse habitual patterns of behavior
~ Rejuvenate + relax in a lush environment
~ Enjoy locally sourced meals
~ Disconnect from daily routine + reconnect with nature and like-minded souls
~ Receive pre + post-retreat support from Laura to implement new practices and create sustainable change in your life
