South Africa>South Africa Sardine Run Dive/Snorkel Trip

Join me for a BUCKET LIST ocean adventure! 🤿🌊🐟🦈🐬🐋🩵

The annual migration of sardines up the eastern coast of South Africa is an event all wildlife lovers should experience at least once in their life. From May through July, shoals of sardines follow cold, nutrient-rich currents that sweep in-shore up the east coast due
to changes in weather patterns. Along with these sardines comes a vast array of hungry marine predators such as Cape gannets, superpods of common dolphins, brydes whales, and several shark species (dusky sharks, copper sharks, black tip sharks, ragged tooth sharks, bull sharks, and more).

Aside from the incredible shoals of sardines, there is also the annual
migration of humpback whales traveling north where they will mate or give birth. They can be seen daily in small family groups.

The sardine run is unpredictable - making it the most exciting way to spend a day at sea. You just never know what you will witness next.

BBC recognises this event as ‘the greatest shoal on Earth’, and we couldn’t agree more. Whether you are a certified or non-certified diver, this experience is for you. All ocean lovers and conservationists will thoroughly enjoy this spectacular marine event.

Cancellation policy

Refunds
Your place is guaranteed at the time of full payment. However, if you decide to cancel your trip, we will be unable to offer any refunds for the amount paid.

Due to the worldwide popularity of the sardine run and its limited seasonal availability for only a few months a year, there are no refunds on deposits or final payments. The reason for this drastic cancellation policy is due to limited space on the boat. Space is reserved on a firstcome, first-serve basis, therefore the dive operator has turned away potential guests to secure our space. Payments can be held transferrable to another expedition OR the next calendar year, provided there is space available at the time of transfer.

You may transfer your spot
At any point until May 27, 2025, you may choose to transfer your spot to another traveler. The price will reflect the current selling price of the trip at the time of transfer. Once the new traveler has been introduced and books their spot, we will refund you for your payments. You can initiate a transfer in your TourHero account by clicking on Your Trips.

Note: If there is a waitlist, you may not be able to choose who you transfer your spot to. We will contact the next person on the waitlist for this trip and transfer your spot to them.

Please check the cancellation policy section on this itinerary page for specific details.

Will TourHero or the operator take care of my visa (if applicable)?

Travelers are responsible for researching visa requirements and obtaining a visa if needed. Please check government websites to ensure you have the necessary documents, along with passport requirements, before your departure date. This includes necessary transit visas, permits, and vaccinations required prior to travel and any required reciprocity fees for the destination. TourHero will provide a booking confirmation document after purchase, which may be needed to obtain a visa.

If your visa is denied for any reason, TourHero will issue a refund based on the cancellation policy. However, we are unable to provide a refund after the cancellation due date has passed.

Do I need a passport for this trip?

A full and valid passport is required for all persons traveling to any destination outside of one’s home country. Most international tours require a passport that's valid for at least six (6) months beyond the scheduled end of your itinerary. TourHero will not issue refunds based on passport issues such as renewals or lost passports.
