Today marks the beginning of your journey into nature in the beautiful Scottish Highlands! After landing at Inverness Airport, we’ll say goodbye to the city streets and head deep into the hills. Our destination is Alladale Wilderness Reserve, a peaceful and rugged area home to stunning vistas and a variety of animal species. Drop your bags off at your cottage, settle in, and grab some dinner before a workshop that will introduce you to the idea of human rewilding, the guiding concept of this retreat. With your head filled with excitement for the activities of tomorrow, head to bed and get some rest.
For our first full day here at the reserve, we’re going to enter the great outdoors and begin rekindling our connection with the earth. Breathwork and breakfast will fuel us up for a guided exploration in nature, trekking through the forest and discovering what this magical area of Scotland has to offer. We'll also take a dip in some cold water, a powerful experience that will awaken your senses to the sensations of the wilderness. In the afternoon, we'll work on our foraging skills by looking for some plants and herbs for teas before attending a breathh & cold therapy masterclass.
It's time for another day spent refinding your space in nature. After our morning routine of breathwork and breakfast, we'll head out for a hike with the chance for cold water immersion, nature connection activities and games. We'll have a bit of free time to relax before dinner, and we'll wrap up the day with an evening gathering which, weather permitting, will also include a fireside storytelling session.
One of the main goals of this retreat is to help you build up your ancestral skills and learn to do the basic activities needed to subsist and live off of the land. We’ll begin that education today with a workshop centered around making a fire! Without any matches, you'll see how you can harness the resources around you to create warmth and light. After this, we'll shift our focus to knots and other methods for creating shelter. Lunch will then take us to another workshop, this time centered around fish skin tanning to create fish leather, a staple for long-term survival in nature. Finally, we'll wrap the day up with a masterclass on circadian rhythm & earthing.
It's our last full day at the retreat, and we'll kick it off with a splash. A cold water morning dip is an amazing way to start the day, and it will immediately get your senses in tune with the rhythm of nature. From here, we'll embark on another hike out in the hills of Alladale. As you trek, take some time to look inside yourself and think about how the wilderness is guiding you towards a more holistic, connected life. We'll then begin a workshop that will help you rewild your body. The rest of the day will be spent crafting pouches and phone cases with the fish leather we've made, eating great food, and finally meeting in a circle to wrap up this amazing experience.
It’s already the final day of your trip! After grabbing breakfast, you’ll say goodbye to the hills of the Alladale Wilderness Reserve and head back to the airport to catch a flight home. Thanks so much for joining us, and we hope you got the reset and knowledge you were looking for!
