You might be the type to check your horoscope here and there. You might be the type to have an app on your phone and follow the stars and planets religiously. Or you might be one of those people who thinks anyone who brings up their zodiac sign is annoying as hell. No matter where you fall on the astrology spectrum, one thing stands true: our ancestors mapped the stars and planets for as long as we can conceive. One burning question is, why?
The arrangement of the stars and planets in the sky falls under two categories: astronomy and astrology. While astronomy aims to study these stellar phenomena using math and science to understand their origin and evolution, astrology uses some of that same math and science to understand the human experience. Using what astrology calls a natal chart, astrologers can tell a person a lot about their personality traits and their life path.
A natal chart is a snapshot of the sky the moment, and we mean literal moment, you were born. The software that creates these charts uses your birth day, exact birth time, and birth location to determine your astrological placements. While most people never go this in-depth with their chart, they do end up knowing their zodiac sign.
Each person has a zodiac sign that corresponds to the day they were born based on the positioning of its matching constellation and the sun. (Technically, what we know to be our zodiac sign is actually our sun sign, but that’s a longer rant for another article.) Astrology offers a set of positive and negative personality traits that connect to your sun sign, along with a wealth of other information about your identity. There are 12 zodiac signs in total that cover the 12 months of the year varying by date. They also connect to one of four elements: earth, air, fire, and water.
While there is much more to astrology than what’s listed here, knowing your sun sign can shed light on how you view yourself and your basic personality traits. Learn what your zodiac sign says about you and where you should travel to next!
Aries (March 21 – April 19)
Aries is a fire sign that’s represented by a ram. Based on this head-butting creature, they get a bad rep for outbursts and anger. While there may be some truth to that stereotype, Aries placements are strong, bold, and know what they want out of life. They tend to be quite independent, enjoying creative projects and solo adventures. The rams in our lives may have a temper at times, but they love fiercely and deeply. This zodiac sign protects what is theirs and works hard to gain success at whatever they set out to achieve.
That’s why for the rams, we chose Patagonia.
Solo exploration: Patagonia’s vast landscapes
Patagonia: Patagonia is a region of gorgeous mountains, sprawling countryside, and blue lakes that spans 260,000 square miles in Argentina and Chile. From trekking expeditions to glamping sites with full-service bars, you can enjoy it all while marveling at nature’s beauty. Hike to Mount Fitz Roy, marvel at the Perito Moreno Glacier, and soak in the natural beauty of rolling hills with majestic creatures all around. We think our Aries friends will find a solo trip to Patagonia inspiring, giving them a magical space to rest, relax, and explore.

Taurus (April 20 – May 20)
Taurus is an earth sign represented by a bull. Known as the most stubborn zodiac sign, they stand firm in their beliefs. However, that strength is matched by their compassion, as they end up being the caretakers of their friends and family members. Because they are constantly working to ensure everyone around them are happy and well, they tend to enjoy sleeping, eating, and relaxing in their downtime. For this reason, we want our stubborn bulls to pamper themselves in an island paradise, so we’re sending them to St. Lucia!
Luxury & relaxation: St. Lucia’s pampering oasis
St. Lucia: This zodiac sign deserves to relax, and what better place than on a tropical island far away from responsibility? St. Lucia is a Caribbean island deep within the chain. Boasting all-inclusive luxury resorts, scuba diving, spa amenities, and beachside fun, a Taurus can truly relax and make themselves at home in this little slice of heaven. Have someone else do the work, and enjoy some time on the shoreline just for you!

Gemini (May 21 – June 20)
Geminis are tricky. They’re an air sign represented by the twins, and because of this symbol, many feel they can be two-faced. However, Gemini’s are deeply misunderstood. Their dual mind allows them to think deeper than most, understand many perspectives within the world around them, and stay open-minded. They enjoy external stimulation and doing things their own way, but when they find the right people, they create a home wherever they go.
The twins are fierce thinkers and don’t love to commit to one place or thing. That’s why we’re suggesting Japan for their next travel endeavor.
Group trip with every type of travel: Japan sampler
Japan: Since Geminis have a lot of thoughts in their brains at all times, and most of those thoughts conflict, we think Japan is the perfect destination. They can hang in the big cities like Tokyo and Osaka, travel to the beaches on Okinawa Island, marvel at the beautiful historical sites in Kyoto, learn about history in Hiroshima, and hike Mount Fuji — all in one trip! In Japan, which is a great country for group adventures and myriad food options, they can truly have it all in every location.
Other top suggestions:
- Mexico, from Oaxaca to Tulum
- Australia, from the seaside to the cities
- Brazil, from urban expanses to the beach towns
Cancer (June 21 – July 22)
Cancer is a water sign represented by a crab. While these seemingly sensitive babes have an epic well of emotional depth, they are loving, creative, and passionate individuals who will truly put the needs of others before themselves. Do these sea creatures shed some tears? Absolutely, but this is the way in which Cancers perceive and process the world.
While they enjoy taking care of their loved ones, they also love seeing the world and meeting new people every chance they get. That’s why we’ve selected Greece as their ideal travel destination.
Cultural immersion & beaches: Greece’s history & islands
Greece: Composed of a large mainland and over 200 paradisiacal islands in the Mediterranean Sea, Greece is the perfect playground for this passionate zodiac sign. The island beaches can soothe their crabby souls, and they will make friends everywhere they go in this welcoming and friendly country. From cultural immersions and delicious fare to historical tours and party fun, an extroverted Cancer will thrive in Greece’s ancient landscape. Yamas!

Leo (July 23 – August 22)
Leo is a fire sign represented by a lion. Known for their fierce sense of identity and trendy vibes, Leos are posh jet-setters who want to live the good life at all times. While ego and pride are two words that are connected to this strong zodiac sign, Leos are passionate leaders who want to ensure the people around them are cared for and seen. They are fun, intense, uniquely creative, and tend to hold positions of authority.
Leos enjoy socializing, adventure, and a great party scene. That’s why we’re sending our prideful lions to magical Morocco.
Posh party experiences: Morocco’s magical cities
Morocco: Morocco is a wonderland of culture, history, and fun with Berber villages, desert camping, mountain hiking, beachside luxury, and epic city eats. Like its opposing sign Aquarius, Leos, too, enjoy unique experiences that put them above others, which makes Morocco the perfect option. They can indulge in rooftop lounges in Marrakech, go glamping in the Sahara, hike in the Atlas Mountains, and live the good life at a variety of beach resorts in Agadir and Taghazout. This zodiac sign likes style, they like to travel off the beaten path, and they like to party; Morocco can offer it all!

Virgo (August 23 – September 22)
Virgo is an earth sign that is deeply grounded in their routines. Represented by the maiden, this feminine symbol is often associated with the goddess of agriculture and fertility. They are known to be type-A analytic thinkers and are typically problem-solution oriented. However, this type of mindset can lead them into black-and-white thinking, which often leaves them with a sense of unease or anxiety. Their perfectionism is a double-edged sword, but one that often brings them deep success because of their discipline and drive. They also like to let loose when the mood strikes.
For our Virgo friends, we’ve chosen Iceland, the land of fire and ice, for a fun adventure that will help them see the world (on their timeline).
Structured sightseeing: The land of fire & ice
Iceland: Stay on schedule with an array of tours that will take you through the beautiful landscapes of the country. Our Virgos will love all the options for excursions, whisking them away to waterfalls, volcanoes, mountains, and black-sand beaches. They can ease their tensions in the Blue Lagoon with their favorite beverage, but they can also use their stores of energy to hike and trek across the country. From food to fun, Iceland has it all!

Libra (September 23 – October 22)
Libra is an air sign, known for its sense of justice, as represented by the balanced scales. They are a pretty even-keeled sign, not wanting to rock the boat, and are always surrounded by great friends. However, their need for harmony can cause problems as they tend to dislike making decisions or starting conflict. But when it comes down to it, this zodiac sign will always fight for what they believe in.
Libras love to have a good time and enjoy being social, which makes their perfect vacation spot Costa Rica.
Good vibes only: The epic playground of Costa Rica
Costa Rica: Libras love to have a good time and avoid conflict if they can help it. Costa Rica’s good-vibes-only atmosphere reflects such a personality. They can surf in Tamarindo, hang with the wildlife in Manuel Antonio, dig deep into the art scene in San Jose, and enjoy the nightlife in Jaco. From ayahuasca retreats and eco-resorts to jungle treks and all-inclusive beachside living, Costa Rica is calling all Libras. The only problem: how will they choose where to stay!

Scorpio (October 23 – November 21)
While Scorpio is represented by the Scorpian and is known to be dark and mysterious, they are still water signs, and boy, do these little scorps have some feelings to share! That doesn’t mean they will unless they feel comfortable with you, as Scorpios are known to love their people deeper than most of the other signs.
However, Scorpios don’t like to feel their feelings, and that can cause some issues in relationships because they can close up and snap at you with their pincers. But what people don’t realize is that Scorpios are passionate, creative, bold, and most importantly — daring. This is the zodiac sign that likes to have fun and throw caution to the wind. That’s why we chose a famous dark tourism site for our deadly arachnids.
Dark tourism: The abandoned remains of Chernobyl
Chernobyl: Located in Ukraine, Chernobyl is the site of a massive nuclear accident that caused an entire area to flee for safety. What remains is the abandoned city of Pryp’yat’ that is frozen in time, the perfect spot for a Scorpio to explore the depths of the past, along with their own inner landscape. While you can’t stay in the city, you can book tours into the area and explore the landscape that nature has sought to reclaim. Get your cameras ready for a once-in-a-lifetime adventure!

Sagittarius (November 22 – December 21)
Sagittarius is a fire sign represented by the archer. They are fun-loving goofballs who enjoy deep conversations and a plane ticket to anywhere. While they may struggle with their fiery nature and tend to forgo committed relationships, they have a wealth of compassion, knowledge, and humor to share with the world.
That’s why we chose Peru for our Sag friends, so they can freely explore a sacred landscape with every type of activity.
Backpacking adventures: Sacred landscapes of Peru
Peru: In Peru, you can hang in the modern city of Lima and enjoy elevated fare, you can hike the famed Inca Trail and immerse yourself in nature, and you can have a wealth of spiritual and cultural experiences in Cusco and the Sacred Valley. Peru is a backpacker’s dream, and with a Sag’s ever-changing mind, it’s the perfect landscape to match their inner fun to an outer experience. Party with a pisco sour and go back in time, archers!

Capricorn (December 22 – January 19)
Capricorn is an earth sign represented by the (sea) goat. And honestly, they will tell you they are the goat. These go-getters know what they want out of life, and they aren’t afraid to chase their dreams. However, this motivated and determined mindset can make them come off a little harsh or cold, but really, they are cozy, cuddly creatures that crave love and affection.
While Caps can be misunderstood due to their introverted nature, they seek new and fun experiences, which is why we are suggesting Prague as their next place to travel.
Dig deep into food and culture: A Prague paradise
Prague: Filled with history, great food, and stellar pubs, Prague is a wonderland for those looking to relax, explore, and eat. Capital of the Czech Republic, Caps can immerse themselves in the colorful baroque buildings and Gothic churches, all while enjoying a delicious array of beers, food, and fun. Grab a pint and enjoy the city from sun up to the nightlife festivities!

Aquarius (January 20 – February 18)
Contrary to popular belief, Aquarius is an air sign. Most confuse its element with its symbol: the water bearer. They are rebellious by nature, they don’t like to follow the beaten path, and they are typically way ahead of their time when it comes to innovative ideas. They may seem cold and aloof, but Aquarians care deeply for humanity, wanting justice and what’s best for the collective.
Since Aquas aren’t looking for the path most traveled, and will always tell you they had EVERY idea first, we are sending them to Bhutan, a place we know many travelers would never think to go.
Off the beaten path: Beautifully isolated Bhutan
Bhutan: Nepal is “too popular” for an Aquarius. They always have to be doing what others aren’t, which means they will literally go to the ends of the Earth to find a travel location that most have never been. Because they are so intertwined with the fate of humanity, Bhutan is the perfect location because it’s a cultural hub filled with spirituality, history, and beautiful landscapes. They can tour the cities, mingle with the locals in the villages, and ask their guides an array of questions as they hike through beautiful mountains to the ancient temples.
Other top suggestions:
- Petra, Jordan
- Transylvania, Romania
- Easter Island
Pisces (February 19 – March 20)
Pisces is the oldest sign out of the 12, represented by two fish swimming in a circle. While water signs are known to be emotional, and Pisces definitely are, they are also deeply inquisitive and thoughtful, allowing their emotions to start and end in the brain with fantastical interpretations of reality. They are known to romanticize their life, but let me tell you — they won’t take any guff from anyone. They know what they want, and they are not afraid to let you know their thoughts — good or bad!
That’s why for our fishy friends, we chose the incredible Indonesian island of Bali.
Romantic fantasies & fun: Bali’s dreamscape
Bali: Just like a Pisces’ mind, Bali is a dreamscape, with jungles, beaches, spiritual adventures, and food galore. From luxury resorts in Ubud to surf hostels in Canggu, a Pisces can live out their wildest fantasies. Eat BBQ seafood on a beach in Jimbaran, hike up to Mount Batur at sunrise, and mingle with the locals in the small villages throughout the island. However, dear fishes, don’t get lost in the dream. You’ll have to return home at some point! (Or maybe not…)
