Welcome to New Delhi, India’s capital and vibrant city that features ancient history, cultural depth, and bustling markets for all to enjoy. Upon arrival, your guide will meet you at the airport and take you to your hotel to get settled from your travels. Spend some time enjoying the hotel’s amenities, or use the location of your lodging to explore the area. Spend time at the Lodi Gardens to enjoy Delhi's greenery, uncover the mysteries of the Mughal tombs, or simply wander around the markets and grab food with your group. No matter what you choose, get ready for an adventure like no other!
Rise and shine to your first full day in India. Enjoy breakfast at the hotel, then embark on a tour of Old Delhi with your guide. Old Delhi reflects the old-world charm of India and speaks volumes about India's history, culture and tradition that’s juxtaposed with New Delhi’s modern innovation. You’ll start the exploration at Jama Masjid, one of Asia’s largest mosques. It was built in red sandstone and marble by more than 5,000 artisans. From here, we’ll visit Chandni Chowk, Asia's largest wholesale market, a massive area packed with shops, bazaars, and people. We’ll drive past the Red Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, that was built in the 17th century, along with the Raj Ghat, a memorial to Mahatma Gandhi. It’s at this point we’ll start traveling towards New Delhi, which reflects the British legacy that was left behind. Here, we’ll visit Qutub Minar, the second tallest minar in India and UNESCO World Heritage Site, and 16th century Humayun’s Tomb, the first garden-tomb on the Indian subcontinent. We’ll finish out this drive through history with a drive-by of the India Gate, the War Memorial Arch, the Parliament House, the Secretariat buildings, and the Vice Regal Palace. After a day of journeying through time, we’ll head back to the hotel, where you can spend the rest of the day as you please. Do some shopping, indulge in the sumptuous fare, and simply enjoy your remaining night in the city.
Good morning, travelers! Our adventure truly begins today as we leave Delhi for Agra, the city of love, known for the architectural masterpiece that is the Taj Mahal. We’ll eat a hearty breakfast, then make the three-hour trek to our next hotel. After we get settled, we’ll head back out with our guide to tour the city, starting with the Agra Fort. This walled imperial city was founded in 1565 and is a well-deserving UNESCO World Heritage Site. From here, we’ll visit the Tomb of I'timad-ud-Daulah – a Mughal mausoleum colloquially known as the ‘jewel box’ or the ‘Baby Taj’. We’ll continue on to the Kachpura Heritage Walk, a narrow bridle path through agriculture fields near Mehtab Bagh. This passageway will take us into the ancient village of Kachpura through to Mehtab Bagh, from where we’ll have the opportunity to watch the sunset over the Taj Mahal. What will surely be a long and rewarding day will end back at the hotel, where we can enjoy a delicious meal and rest up for more adventures.
We’ll awake before the sun and travel to the Taj Mahal, so we can witness the colors changing in the sky overhead. This glorious backdrop will be the perfect spot for social media-worthy pictures, filled with an energy like you’ve never experienced before. After some exploration, we’ll return to the hotel for breakfast, then make our way to Sawai Madhopur, with a few stops along the way. We’ll start the odyssey with a visit to Fatehpur Sikri, an area that was supposed to be the great Emperor Akbar’s grandiose new capital city. Phantoms of ancient splendor fill this abandoned city, a silent witness to a vanished dream. We’ll have ample time here to explore its remnants, learning about its beginning and quick end. Eventually, we’ll head to Bharatpur Station and catch our train to our next hotel location. We’ll get settled in our rooms, then enjoy dinner at the hotel.
Today’s sightseeing will be different from the rest as we embark on two game drives in Ranthambore National Park. This area is home to lush forests filled with tigers, leopards, striped hyenas, sambar deer, chital, nilgai, and over 250 species of birds. An experienced naturalist will accompany us on our voyages, to ensure we see it all and know it all during our adventure.
Wake up at your own pace, enjoy a delicious breakfast at the hotel, and relax by the pool until it’s ready to head to our next destination. After lunch, we’ll hop back in the van and travel to Jaipur, a historic city that features a wealth of ancient architecture and magnificent tales. Upon arrival, we’ll have the rest of the night to ourselves to enjoy the area.
Another adventure awaits! Today, that adventure is in the city of Jaipur, a landscape filled with ancient secrets and hidden wonders. After a hearty breakfast, we'll start our day by visiting the hilltop fortress at Amber, where we can explore the sprawling complex of courtyards and halls. After lunch, we’ll travel to the City Palace, an exquisite complex of palaces, gardens, and courtyards filled with decorative art, carvings, and history. From here, we’ll make one final stop at Jantar Mantar, the most famous of five observatories built by Sawai Jai Singh. With a full camera roll, we’ll return to the hotel where we can relax and enjoy dinner before heading back to Delhi in the morning.
Today, we head back to New Delhi for one final night in India. We’ll make the six-hour drive with a stop for lunch, marveling at the diverse landscapes along the way. Once we return, we’ll check back into the hotel and have the entire evening to grab some last-minute souvenirs and eat a delicious meal. Live it up!
Who can believe eight days have already come and gone! We’ve seen so many iconic sites around India, but unfortunately, our adventure has come to an end.
