We’re so pleased you’re with us in Bogotá, Colombia’s largest city and vibrant capital. This is a place where architecture transcends time, mixing various eras, colors, and styles. Once you arrive, take your transfer to the hostel, get checked in, and take the remainder of the day and night to investigate this majestic city. Explore the streets of Bogotá and eat your way through the city or hang back at the hostel and chat with the staff who are always offering tours, bar crawls, and other fun group activities. Enjoy your first night in Bogotá and rest up for tomorrow’s adventures!
Good morning and happy first full day in Bogotá! We kick off this getaway with a journey into a salt mine that ends with a tour of the famous cathedral of Zipaquirá, a must-see for anyone traveling to the area. Your guide will take you through the Andean landscape, passing the historic Puente del Comun bridge, to the Salt Park where you’ll descend 180 meters underground to marvel at the incredible salt mines, an integral part of the indigenous Muisca legacy. Your guide will also take you through the Salt Cathedral and the historic district of Zipaquirá. Your day will be filled with architectural wonders and important history. Once you return to the hostel, you have the night to yourself to check out the bars and great food options with your group.
Eat a light breakfast today, as your afternoon will be filled with delicious treats. With a local guide, you’ll explore the streets of the La Candelaria neighborhood on a culinary excursion through authentic Colombian food and diverse culture. Not only will you see art galleries, street art painted by local artists, and colonial churches, you’ll savor the most important flavors of Bogotá on this street food tour. This intimate journey will capture Colombian favorites like arepas and tamales, along with exotic fruits native to Colombia, chicha, a traditional beer in South America made from maize, and santafereño chocolate. Now that you know the area well, head back to La Candelaria for dinner and enjoy a great meal with new friends.
Get ready for another full day in the city as we start our morning with a walking tour that will cover historic areas and landmarks, such as the Sanctuary of Monserrate, a Catholic temple located on top of the eastern Andes mountain range. Take a cable car up the mountain and enjoy the picturesque views as you explore this famous landmark. We’ll also explore the Botero Museum and the Chorro de Quevedo in La Candelaria. With so much more to see along the way, you’ll learn the history of the city, understand the diverse cultural intersections, and discover the hidden beauty throughout Bogotá.
After a stellar day walking the streets of Bogotá, get ready for a night you won’t forget! We’ll take a ride to the outskirts of the city to tour the iconic Andrés Carne de Res. This five-floor restaurant, bar, dancehall, and giftshop features food, music, and fun for all. Grab an authentic Colombian meal with the group, dance on one of the two dancefloors, and let loose on your final night in this lively city.
It’s been five days of non-stop fun, but it’s time to pack up and hit the road. Head to your favorite breakfast spot, have one last meal and jump in your transfer to the airport to start your journey home. After a great trip with new friends, we hope you return with a full heart. Adios, amigos!
