We’re thrilled to welcome you to Reykjavik, Iceland’s capital city. Once you’ve landed in Keflavik Airport, you’re just a 45 minute journey away. Hop on you arrival transfer (non-private), which will take you straight to your accommodation. Kex Hostel is situated in the center of Reykjavik, with a gorgeous view across the sea to Mount Esja, and a short walk to bars, restaurants and places of interest. Relax and unwind, go explore the city for yourself, or chat to our guides and start planning your agenda for day 2! We’ll get together for a welcome dinner. After, partake in the famous Reykjavik Pub Crawl in the evening! A perfect way start to your time in the city!
Take in the city’s sculptures, visit the harbour or sip on some lip-smacking hot chocolate and just soak up the vibe. Those wanting to explore further might consider a trip to the world-famous Blue Lagoon — Iceland’s most famous hot spring, situated in the middle of a lava field. Ease yourself into the hot water and rejuvenate your mind and body in a matter of minutes. For something completely different, why not take a lava field tour on horseback and get to know Iceland’s special horses? Reykjavik also has a thriving nightlife scene and you’ll find much to eat, drink and observe simply by going for a wander. Of course, you may even get the rare chance to catch the exquisite Northern Lights for yourself if the conditions are just right! Don't forget to cram some sleep in — it’s a big day tomorrow...
After breakfast, it’s time to get acquainted with Iceland’s breathtaking South Coast! A full-day tour lasting approximately 11 hours, we’ll set off early and visit the Reynisfjara Black Sand Beach. Look out for the basalt sea stacks, caves and lava formations, as the Atlantic Sea crashes against the shore. Next we’ll visit the majestic Seljalandsfoss Waterfall — it’s even possible to walk behind the water and into a small cave to gain a truly unique viewpoint. Move onto the equally dramatic Skogafoss Waterfall. At 60m high, it’s one of Iceland’s biggest and best, and a wonderful place to catch rainbows! Then stretch out those legs and prepare for the heights — it’s time to trek up the Sólheimajökull Glacier. This ever-changing mountain is a glacier tongue of the larger Mýrdalsjökull. The climb will reward your efforts with jaw-dropping alpine scenes throughout. Look out for Katla Volcano, hiding silently below the ice cap. After a day of exploration and mountaineering, return to Reykjavik and take in some much-needed rest and relaxation. Note: This is a non-private day tour.
After sleeping off yesterday’s exertions, take breakfast and prepare to spend the day as you please. A must-see is Reykjavik’s Magic Ice Bar. An art gallery with a difference, every sculpture you see is carved from ice, even the glasses at the bar! Don’t be afraid of the sub-zero temperatures you’ll find inside — all visitors are given a thick winter poncho and gloves on entry, so you can enjoy the experience with a toasty glow. If your legs are still working after yesterday, consider another trek to the erupting Fagradalsfjall Volcano, combined with the world-famous Blue Lagoon — where else can you experience flowing lava combined with a dip in a natural hot spring?
After an overnight stay in Reykjavik, arrange your transfer back to Keflavik. We hope you’ve enjoyed your stay in our unique country and come back to visit us again soon.
The cozy and super-cool Kex Hostel was once a biscuit factory — and they’ve respected this tradition by naming themselves after the Icelandic word for biscuit. You’ll find a brand-new pop-up bar and restaurant, with a scrumptious pizza menu and superb selection of beers. In the basement, they even have an onsite barber, so if you’re feeling a little hirsute, you can get a hair or beard trim without even leaving the building. Book lovers will enjoy the bar’s library, containing everything from biographies to poetry, Icelandic sagas and guidebooks. If you need further inspiration, you’ll find tour experts at the hostel to help you plan your adventures. The hostel provides secure luggage storage, 24-hour access, in-room lockers and free WiFi throughout. Room type: Multiple occupancy.
